Notes regarding our rates.
 

The prices quoted on this web site are an indication only and may vary slightly according to peak periods.  Our rates include fully comprehensive insurance cover; VAT (government tax);  24 hour breakdown assistance and recovery; unlimited mileage (unless otherwise notified); road tax, road fund, vehicle licence fees, vehicle registration fees, delivery to and collection at Gatwick Airport.

The amount which is not covered is called your excess (deductible) this is GBP500.00 on rented vehicles falling within groups A to E or GBP1,000.00 for rented vehicles falling within F to H. You may be able to reduce your excess by paying an additional charge - please enquire at time of booking.

Theft cover and collision damage waiver subject to excess. All third party liabilities are covered. Damage to the rental car is  subject to the excess quoted above. Interior damage or neglect to the vehicle is not covered by insurance cover and will be paid for in full by the person named in the hire agreement.

All our insurance cover is underwritten by Lloyds of London.
 

General Information

AGE LIMITS
All drivers must be over 25 years of age.
For drivers aged between 21 and 25 special terms apply.
For drivers over 75 contact us for clearance.

SPEEDING AND PARKING FINES

The driver of the vehicle is liable for any speeding and parking fines incurred during the hire period. The person named on the rental agreement is required to inform Gatwick Rental Cars upon return of the vehicle, of any fines or parking tickets issued whilst the vehicle was being used by the renter. An administration charge of GBP 35.00 plus VAT will be charged for each and every offence incurred where we are obliged to provide details of hire to the police and/or parking authorities.

 

LONDON CONGESTION CHARGE

The driver of the vehicle is liable for any Congestion charges incurred during the period of hire. Any congestion penalty charge is payable immediately by us and the driver is therefore liable for any fines or penalty charge notices received and for failing to pay the congestion charge during the period of hire. An administration charge of GBP 35.00 plus VAT will be charged for each congestion penalty charge incurred where we are obliged to pay the penalty charge and claim reimbursement.

DRIVING LICENCE
All drivers must produce a valid licence and it must have been held for at least 1 year for drivers aged 25+ and 2 years for drivers aged between 21-25.

ENDORSEMENTS
Other than a statutory parking or speeding offence, it is only possible to rent vehicles to people with a clean licence, unless it is cleared with Gatwick Rental Cars beforehand.

IDENTIFICATION
Some proof of identification will be required at the time of hire other than a valid licence, clear with Gatwick Rental Cars when booking.

PAYMENT
Payment in full is required on all bookings in order to guarantee the price quoted. This includes car hire, additional drivers, child seats, mobile phones and Sat Nav's etc. If you require the vehicle beyond the period of hire booked we will endeavour to accommodate you, however, the hire vehicle may already be allocated for another customer.  Please ensure that you book the correct number of days when making the booking.  Any agreed extension period must be paid for at the time of change and the  charges wherever possible will be the same as at the original commencing rates.  Exceptions to this could be when the extension period runs into a peak period i.e. Bank Holidays

 

CANCELLATION

A 7 day cancellation  period is permitted, however your cancellation rights are waived where the effective date of hire is within 7 days of booking in this instance payment is non refundable. 

In the event of you being unable to utilise the hire vehicle booked under the terms of the rental agreement for reasons outside your control or ours i.e. flight cancellation then we will endeavour wherever possible to carry your booking and payment over to a mutually convenient alternative time and date, although this shall not be deemed to construe a right under the rental agreement.

DAMAGE HOLDING DEPOSITS
A minimum damage holding deposit of £250 per vehicle is payable on the commencement of hire. This is not refundable if the vehicle is damaged. Deposits for continental use are larger - details on request. Interior Damage or neglect is charged for in full.

 

HIRE VEHICLE USE

Our hire vehicles are subject to certain conditions of use, for example they cannot be driven by any person who is not authorised to do so, please ensure all named drivers are given at the time of booking. Our vehicles cannot be used for commercial gain i.e. to carry passengers for hire or reward or for driving lessons. If you have any doubt please enquire when booking. In accordance with UK legislation it is illegal to smoke in our hire agreements.

 

AVAILABILITY
While every effort is made to supply the vehicle original requested, Gatwick Rental Cars reserve the right to supply a substitute vehicle within the same vehicle group or above if necessary.

RIGHTS
Gatwick Rental Cars Reserve the right to change vehicle rates quoted without notice and to refuse rental without giving a reason.
